The Thornybush ethos of ‘discover your dream safari’ has never rung truer when setting foot in such a pristine environment. Forming part of the Thornybush Game Lodge refurbishment, Kamara House is the perfect home away from home and can comfortably accommodate up to six people. Spanning approximately 2,700 sq ft under the roof, with an additional 1,300 sq ft deck and swimming pool, Kamara House puts the magic in celebrating special occasions with friends and families. For extra exclusivity, guests can tailor-make their own schedules by means of a private guide and tracker, and revel in the gastronomical delights of a private chef.

“We are delighted to expand the Thornybush offering by introducing our guests to a holistic 5-star luxury safari adventure, complete with a health and wellness program, immersive safari experiences, and new facilities while staying true to the safari legacy that defines Thornybush Game Lodge,” says Melanie Parker, Head of Operations.

The interiors of Kamara House boast a contemporary fusion of organic textures and tones that harmoniously blend with the surrounding bush. From the moment guests arrive, they are enveloped in a modern interpretation of iconic luxury. Interior designers Artichoke along with architects Lankers & Fry worked together to imagine the new space. “Our aim was to create a sense of tranquility by combining classic and fresh design elements. We have made sure not to overdesign the spaces, which allows for a sense of comfort and relaxation throughout, utilizing timeless elements Thornybush is so well known for, allowing the beautiful open spaces to speak for themselves ” says Caline Williams-Wynn.

While Kamara House presents a more fashionable contemporary ambiance compared to the Game Lodge, it still retains a warm and inviting style, featuring individual statement pieces, rich textures, and warm earthy hues. The house features two bedrooms connected to the main area, with one suite incorporating an interleading bedroom, making it an ideal choice for those traveling with younger children or as a standalone room. The Ardmore wallpaper in the bedrooms has been carried over from the recent Game Lodge refurbishment, serving as the starting point for the overall design concept and inspiring the color palette for the entire project. The stunning leopard design pays tribute to the resident leopard Saseka, after whom one of the Thornybush lodges is named.

Artichoke has curated a team of local artisans to create the exquisite cabinetry in both the bedrooms and bathrooms. “The superior craftsmanship, combined with the use of organic and textured materials such as raffia sliding doors on cupboards in the rooms and rattan on bathroom vanities, further enhances the luxurious atmosphere of the spaces. The showstoppers in the rooms are the trunks at the end of the beds which are multipurpose and can be used as luggage racks as well as extra storage” says Samantha Mühlbauer of Artichoke. As part of Thornybush’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities, the construction teams were employed locally.

From the moment guests arrive, the Thornybush team and a dedicated butler take care of every detail. Guests can unwind and enjoy their own space, spending their days by the rim-flow pool and private deck. Meals, prepared by a personal chef, are served alfresco style in the outdoor area or in the spacious dining area. Kamara House provides its guests with a dedicated game vehicle, guide, and tracker, allowing for a safari journey at their own pace, free from the constraints of scheduled events and other guests.
